The Boundary Hotel was first built in 1863 by Donald Wilson. It was West Ends first hotel and Donald Wilson was the first licensee in West End. In fact, before there was a post office, school, or church in West End, there was The Boundary Hotel. Little is known about the original building, but we do know that it was in the same place and had the same name. The structure has been changed numerous times throughout the years, so that the original Boundary looks nothing like the Boundary of today.
The Boundary did, and still does, reflect the community it serves. The pub has always offered cheap drinks, and no frills, and will continue to do so in the future. The expansion of The Boundary will provide patrons with a relaxed dining area, a hip lounge bar, and a few new pool table rooms. It will be an upgrade to an already wonderful pub, but the heart and feel of The Boundary will still be here.
Donald Wilson ran the best pub in the area, and the family had such a large influence that Wilson Street is named after them. The leases and the licence’s of The Boundary Hotel have changed hands quite frequently, however, ownership has been steady. Donald Wilson passed ownership on to his son John Wilson, who in turn sold it to Thomas Corrigan in 1922. In 1934 he transferred it to Corrigan PTY LTD who still owns it to this day.
